Booking

GetYourGuide sells a Seoul day tour that combines a walk at Seokjongsa with the Cheongpung Lake Cable Car; templestays are arranged with the temple.

Seokjongsa sits on the slopes of Geumbongsan on the outskirts of Chungju and belongs to the Jogye Order. Rather than keeping its grounds for ordained monks only, the temple has made room for lay Buddhists to stay and practice, and it runs a Buddhist college as well as templestay programs for anyone curious about meditation. Its buildings range from the main hall, Daeungjeon, five bays wide, to a bell pavilion, meditation halls and a two-story pavilion, and it keeps several old Buddhist texts listed as cultural heritage.
