Manjanggul, in Gimnyeong-ri on Jeju's northeast side, is a lava tube about 7.4 km long and part of the Geomunoreum Lava Tube System, one of the pieces of Jeju's UNESCO World Natural Heritage. Its main passage reaches about 18 m wide and 23 m high, and although it formed hundreds of thousands of years ago, its inner shapes are unusually well preserved. Visitors enter by the second of three openings left where the roof caved in and can walk about 1 km past lava stalactites, flowstone and lava shelves to a lava column about 7.6 m tall, reported to be the largest of its kind in the world. The cave reopened to visitors on May 30, 2026.
