The Jeju Haenyeo Museum in Gujwa-eup tells the story of the haenyeo, Jeju's women divers, through their daily life, shamanic beliefs, seasonal customs and close-knit community, alongside wider Jeju history, livelihoods and sea life. The exhibits were donated by haenyeo, including a real diver's house moved into the gallery. The grounds in front are where divers gathered for the haenyeo anti-Japanese movement, described as the largest women-led protest against Japanese rule in Korea, and a memorial stone stands there today.
