Hours
The island itself is always open; your day is set by the ferry timetable, so check sailing times.
Closed
No closing days, but ferries may not sail in bad weather.
Getting there
Ferries leave from Seongsan Port and Jongdal Port; the crossing takes about 15 minutes from either.
Booking
Klook, KKday and GetYourGuide sell day tours from Jeju that include Udo; some also cover Seongsan Ilchulbong, Seopjikoji or other east-coast stops.
Udo means 'cow island': its outline resembles a cow lying down, and locals have long called it So-seom or Swe-seom. It is 3.8 km long and about 17 km around, with gentle slopes, good farmland and rich fishing grounds, and its landscapes are known as the Eight Views of Udo. Around two million people visit each year. Ferries from Seongsan Port and Jongdal Port take about 15 minutes, and because a full loop on foot takes 3–4 hours without breaks, most visitors get around by bus, bicycle or small electric car.
