A day trip from Seoul that starts at Bongjeongsa before Andong's jjimdak alley, Woryeonggyo Bridge and Hahoe is sold on KKday.
Bongjeongsa dates to 672, when Neungin, a disciple of the monk Uisang, founded it on Cheondeungsan. Its names come from legends: a heavenly lamp that lit his meditation cave named the mountain, and a paper phoenix he set flying is said to have landed here. Among its national treasures and treasures are Geungnakjeon and Daeungjeon halls, and KTO notes that it holds Korea's oldest wooden building; it remains a working mountain temple not far from downtown Andong.
