Booking
Private tours from Andong, a KTX-and-taxi tour from Seoul or Busan, and a full-day tour from Seoul that include Byeongsan Seowon are sold on GetYourGuide and Klook.
Byeongsan Seowon traces its roots to Pungak Seodang, a Goryeo-era school in Pungsan. On the advice of Ryu Seong-ryong, the scholar-statesman from nearby Hahoe, local scholars moved it to the foot of Byeongsan in 1575, and in 1614 his students added the Jondeoksa shrine in his honor. It was one of only 47 academies left standing when Heungseon Daewongun shut down the rest in 1868.
