What it is

An official tvN clip from episode 1, aired August 23, 2025. French-trained chef Yeon Ji-yeong (Lim Yoon-a) lands in the Joseon era with gochujang and butter saved from an in-flight meal. She tops barley rice with mountain greens and a poached egg, adds gochujang and pours over browned butter. The heat startles King Yi Heon (Lee Chae-min), but he can't stop eating.

Why people are watching

This is the dish that set the show's style: Korean staples cooked with French technique. tvN's clip title says the taste reminded Yi Heon of his mother and brought him to tears. The Korea Times lists it among the show's Korean-French fusion dishes, and it is easy to make at home.
