The Samguk Sagi records that in 760, under King Gyeongdeok, two bridges, Woljeonggyo and Chunyanggyo, were built over the Muncheon stream south of the palace. Lost in the Joseon period, Woljeonggyo was rebuilt after a decade of research, the bridge in 2013 and its gate towers by April 2018, with a small exhibition upstairs on the restoration and excavated finds. KTO calls it Korea's largest wooden bridge, and it is one of Gyeongju's main night-view spots.

Tips

  • See it twice if you can: by day for the woodwork, after dark for the lights. Gyochon Village sits right beside it.
