Daereungwon is the park at the heart of the Silla tomb groups spread across Hwangnam-dong and Nodong-dong. Inside it are the tomb attributed to King Michu, the huge Hwangnamdaechong and Cheonmachong, which was excavated from April to December 1973: 47 m across and 12.7 m high, it yielded a gold crown and many other treasures, and is named for a saddle flap painted with a flying 'heavenly horse'. It is the only tomb here whose interior is open to visitors. Nearby tomb groups include Bonghwangdae, 22 m high, and Geumgwanchong, where a gold crown was found in 1921.
