Visits follow the DMZ peace tour schedule; see dmz.paju.go.kr.
Closed
Mondays, weekday public holidays, and Seollal and Chuseok days. Everything stops if there's a DMZ security issue, bad weather or another safety concern.
Booking
You can only enter on a booked DMZ tour. A layover tour from Incheon Airport that includes Tongilchon, with the Third Tunnel, Dora Observatory and Aegibong, can be booked on GetYourGuide.
Tongilchon, 'Unification Village', lies past a military checkpoint inside the Civilian Control Line near the DMZ in Paju. It was settled by families of discharged soldiers from around the country together with displaced local people, and today it is also a stop for peace tourism. In the middle of the village a telescope lets you look across into North Korea, and air-raid shelters and an armory that residents once guarded are still there.
