Booking

GetYourGuide sells a west Jeju bus tour from Seogwipo on which the guide picks the Songaksan coastal trail, Sanbangsan or Yongmeori Coast depending on the weather.

Songaksan sits on the coast just south of Sanbangsan and is also called "99 Peaks" for the cluster of small summits that make it up. It is a double volcano, with a second crater formed inside the first. The Songaksan Dulle-gil, part of Jeju Olle Route 10, circles it on an easy path with views of Hyeongjeseom, Gapado and, farther out, Marado, and you often pass horses grazing on the slopes. It is also a site of remembrance: during World War II, the Japanese military forced local people to dig 15 caves into the seaside cliffs.

Tips

  • Bring a windproof layer: the headland is exposed, and on gusty days the wind is strong.
  • Go on a clear day if you want to see all the way to Marado.
