Booking

Trip.com sells 3-hour Sokcho sightseeing taxis with the lighthouse observatory on a route, including one with a round-trip transfer from Seoul.

Sokcho's white lighthouse first shone in 1957 and still guides ships today, its light reaching about 35 km out to sea. It is now open to visitors as an observatory, reached by a wooden boardwalk that climbs through a bamboo grove. From the top you look out over the East Sea, down on Cheongchoho Lake, where migratory birds stop over, and back toward the Seoraksan range. Sokcho ranks it first among its eight scenic views, and the Yeonggeumjeong pavilion is right next door.
