Booking
Klook sells two day tours from Seoul that include Oeam (one with Pinnacle Land, one with Onyang Folk Museum and Hyeonchungsa); KKday sells an Asan flower-festival tour and GetYourGuide a Yi Sun-sin history tour that both stop here.
Oeam took shape about 500 years ago, and families here still farm and keep up traditional ways, which is why the whole village is protected as National Folklore Heritage. Wander the lanes, then try programs such as a tea ceremony with etiquette lessons or hanji paper crafts. A market street at the entrance, styled on a Joseon-era marketplace, has food and performances. The village keeps a calendar of seasonal events: a jangseung (guardian post) rite in the first lunar month, the Straw Culture Festival in October and a winter-solstice event in November.
