Myeongjae Old House, also called the Yun Jeung House after the Joseon scholar whose pen name was Myeongjae, has been protected as National Folklore Heritage since 1984. The first thing you notice is the long pond in front, with a tiny round island where a crape myrtle about 300 years old bends over the water. Behind it, the sarangchae (men's quarters) sits on a raised stone platform with the ridges of Noseongsan as a backdrop, and the house faces openly toward the village. You can book a hanok stay or join programs such as tea ceremonies, natural dyeing, traditional knotting and music performances.
