GetYourGuide sells a spring day tour from Seoul that walks the cherry-blossom road to Donghaksa and continues to Jeonju Hanok Village; it runs only in cherry season.
Donghaksa sits in a valley of Mt. Gyeryongsan and traces its beginnings to the reign of Silla's King Seongdeok in the early 8th century. Today it is known above all as a seminary where Buddhist nuns study. Two shrines set it apart from other temples: Samungak honors three loyal scholars of late Goryeo, and Sungmojeon holds memorial tablets for King Danjong and the officials who stayed loyal to him. Hiking trails from the temple link with other temples on the mountain.

Tips
- For a hike, climb to Sangwonam hermitage and the Nammaetap ('brother and sister') pagodas, which tradition links to the monk Sangwon.
- Spring brings cherry blossoms to the road up to the temple, and that is the only season the GetYourGuide tour runs.
