On an island built of volcanic rock, this park tells the story of how people lived with stone, as both a museum and an ecological park. Paths wind past stone sculptures and through gotjawal forest, which covers about 70% of the site, to an outdoor collection that includes 48 dol hareubang, bangsatap towers raised to ward off bad luck, jeongjuseok gatepost stones and dongjaseok, the child figures set beside graves. The first stage, with the Jeju Stone Museum, a stone-culture exhibition hall and traditional thatched houses, opened in June 2006, and the whole park was finished by 2020.
