Step onto Saryeoni and the fresh scent of cedar wraps around you. The trail runs from Bijarim-ro past Mulchat Oreum to Saryeoni Oreum, which gives it its name; 'saryeoni' is said to mean a sacred forest. Dense Japanese cedars line much of the way, mixed with oak, hornbeam, snowbell and hinoki cypress, and the woods shelter badgers, Jeju weasels and birds such as the fairy pitta and goshawk. KTO lists it among Jeju's 31 hidden scenic spots, and it lies within the Jeju Biosphere Reserve designated by UNESCO in 2002.
