Booking
No booking is needed to visit. GetYourGuide sells an about 9-hour small-group 4·3 history tour that includes the park, and Klook sells a guided Jeju 4·3 history and culture day tour.
This park remembers the Jeju civilians massacred in the violence of the 4·3 events and the hardship survivors lived through, and it is meant to open a path toward reconciliation. It was created as a form of collective redress after the 4·3 Special Act of 2000 and opened on March 28, 2008. The Jeju 4·3 Peace Memorial Hall tells the history in six exhibition halls, from the natural caves where villagers hid, through the armed uprising of April 3, 1948 and the killings that followed, to the movement that uncovered what happened. Outside are a memorial altar where people pay respects all year, a memorial tower, monuments that record each victim's name, sex and age, and an ossuary holding 380 sets of remains recovered in excavations.
