Most walkers start at Deureuni Gate: from there the 3.6 km route is mostly downhill steps on a well-kept deck, while starting from Sundam Gate means more climbing. Either way you walk on a jando, a plank path in the style of the cliffside trails of China's mountains, fixed halfway up vertical cliffs that were out of reach before and hanging 20–30 m above the Hantan River. Along the way come columnar-jointed rock walls, a sweeping S-bend in the river, waterfalls dropping off the cliffs and ten viewing shelters.
