Goso-dong is said to be Yeosu's oldest village, and from its hillside lanes you look out over the sea to Dolsan Bridge and Geobukseon Bridge. Ahead of the 2012 Expo, the city and residents covered its walls with murals, and because the route from Jinnamgwan over the hill to Yeosu Marine Park measures 1,004 m, it's nicknamed the Angel Mural Alley (1004 is read cheonsa, which also means 'angel' in Korean). Its seven sections show stories of the sea, local history and scenery, and Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his sailors, with viewpoint benches along the way. In the village, a pavilion shelters two stelae honoring Yi, the Jwasuyeong Victory Stele and the Taru Stele, both designated Treasures.
