Booking

KKday, GetYourGuide and Klook each sell a Boryeong day tour from Seoul that ends with a forest walk here, after the Sky Bike and Boryeong's mud attractions.

The recreational forest fills Hwajanggol, a valley on Seongjusan in the Charyeong Mountains. Most of the trees are native broadleaves such as oriental cork oak, chestnut, snowbell and painted maple, and a clear stream winds past rocky outcrops through the nine-bend Gugok valley. Legend says one of eight auspicious 'peony' sites on the mountain lies hidden in Hwajanggol, which is where the name comes from. Roads and facilities make it an easy place for a walk in the woods, and the leaves turn bright in autumn.
