Booking

No booking is needed to visit. GetYourGuide sells two south Jeju day tours that stop at Oedolgae and walk part of Olle Trail 7.

Oedolgae, 'the stone standing alone', is a pillar of rock about 20 m tall rising straight from the sea off Seogwipo, and Jeju Olle Route 7 begins beside it. It goes by other names too. As Janggunseok, the 'General Rock', it recalls a tale that General Choe Yeong, fighting Mongol Yuan forces, dressed the rock up as a giant warrior so that the enemy defeated themselves. As Halmang Bawi, 'Grandmother Rock', it's tied to the lives of islanders who waited on the shore for loved ones to come home from the sea.
