Booking

Klook sells a winter day tour from Seoul that pairs the Cheongyang ice festival at Alps Village with a walk across this bridge; it runs in winter only.

Opened in 2009, the bridge stretches 207 m across Cheonjangho, a lake tucked at the eastern end of the Chilgapsan range. Its 16 m tower is shaped after goji berries and chili peppers, two crops Cheongyang is proud of. The deck is 1.5 m wide and starts to bounce and sway about 20 m in, just enough for a mild thrill. On the far side, an observation point and a trail lead up toward the top of Chilgapsan; for an easier outing, follow the lakeshore path to Hwangnyongjeong pavilion.

Tips

  • In winter, combine the bridge with the ice festival at Alps Village right beside the lake.
  • KTO mentions night openings that show the bridge in a different light; call ahead to check if one is on.
