Booking

Klook sells a Seoul day tour to Guinsa Temple and Ondal Tourist Park with a package option that stops at Bobaljae Pass and its observatory.

Bobaljae, also called Godeuneomijae, is a mountain pass where the road twists back and forth between Boballi in Gagok-myeon and Baekjari in Yeongchun-myeon. Maples line about 3 km of the roadside, and in 2020 Danyang County planted some 500 more along the stretch toward Guinsa Temple, so the bends become a ribbon of color in autumn; spring brings wildflowers instead. An observation deck at the top looks down over the curves, and the pass is part of course 6 of the Sobaeksan Jarakgil walking trail.

Tips

  • Autumn foliage is the main draw, so autumn is the season to go; in spring the roadside has wildflowers.
  • Guinsa Temple and Ondal Tourist Park are close by and pair well with the pass.
