Booking
KKday sells a shared 10-hour day tour from Seoul and a private car tour from a Seoul hotel, both combining Bear Tree Park with the National Sejong Arboretum.
Bear Tree Park grew out of the plants and animals its founder raised over some 50 years, and it opened to the public in May 2009. About 33 hectares hold around 1,000 plant species and some 400,000 plants, along with hundreds of Asiatic black bears and brown bears, sika deer, peacocks and koi. Gardens range from a rose garden, a bonsai garden and a tropical greenhouse to a pine collection, a juniper hill with trees over 100 years old and a European-style garden laid out in the shape of the Korean peninsula around an 800-year-old zelkova. A petting zoo with bear cubs and deer suits younger children, and feeding is one of the activities on offer.

Tips
- In winter, the koi from the outdoor ponds are gathered in one place, and a scatter of feed brings the whole crowd rushing in.
- On the shared KKday tour, the winter option heads to Cheongyang instead, so check that your date includes Bear Tree Park.
