Ahopsan Forest covers about 52 hectares on the slopes of Mt. Ahopsan in Cheolma-myeon, Gijang, and has been a privately owned forest for some 400 years. Planted groves of bamboo, Japanese cypress, cedar and ginkgo mix with natural woodland that includes Geumgang pines 100 to 300 years old. To protect it, only a limited number of people with reservations are let in each day, and there are forest talks and nature programs for children.
