What it is
Music Bank is KBS 2TV’s weekly music show; KBS describes it as a high-class pop music show bringing many genres and the latest music news. Star News calls it Korea’s flagship music program, first launched in 1998. It has aired on Fridays at 5:15 p.m. Korea time since July 10, 2026, and KBS posts breaks on its notice board — there was no show on Sept. 25 or Oct. 2, 2026.
How the No. 1 is decided
The weekly No. 1 comes from the K-Chart, which KBS says adds up digital music, broadcast count, K-pop fan vote, album and social media scores. Hankyoreh reported the weights from the Feb. 25, 2022 episode: digital 60%, broadcast count 20%, viewer preference 10%, album 5% and social media 5%.
From the July 31, 2026 episode, the fan vote runs in the coogoong app. Candidates are that week’s K-Chart Nos. 1–50 plus the acts performing or requested to perform that week.
How to watch or attend
Watch it on KBS2; stage videos go up on KBS’s official music YouTube channel, KBS Kpop. To join the audience, use the “방청 신청하기” (apply to attend) button on the official Music Bank page and check each notice — for the Oct. 16, 2026 taping at the National Museum of Korea, applications opened Oct. 8 at 9 a.m., up to two tickets per person. KBS says buying or selling tickets for money is banned, and illegally traded tickets won’t get you in.
