At a glance

This cable car is an easy way into the mountain country known as the Yeongnam Alps. Large 50-passenger cars run every 20 minutes and cover about 1.8 km in some 10 minutes to the upper station at 1,020 m. From there a gentle 250 m deck path, the Haneul Sarang-gil, leads in about 10 minutes to the Noksandae lookout, with views of Gajisan, Baegunsan and the Eoreumgol ("ice valley") gorge toward Miryang. Hikers use it as a starting point for the nearby summits and the silver-grass meadows of Sajapyeong.

  Hiking times from the upper station (one way): Sajabong peak of Jaeyaksan about 1 hour, Sumibong peak about 1 hour 40 minutes, Neungdongsan about 1 hour, and the Sajapyeong silver-grass meadow about 2 hours. Leave time to get back before the last car down.
