Kim Ki-chang, known by his pen name Unbo, overcame deafness to become one of the great masters of Korean painting, and he spent his final years at this hillside estate outside Cheongju after the death of his wife, the painter Park Rae-hyun (Uhyang). Pass through the tall gate, the inner gate and the garden to reach the hanok main house; its basement shows his 'Life of Jesus' series, which tells the story of the Passion in the style of Korean painting. The Unbo Art Museum on the grounds displays works and belongings of both artists, and the house has also been a TV drama filming location.
