Oedo Botania (from "botany" and "utopia") is a sea-ringed garden on two small islets off Geoje. The west islet is laid out as the garden, inspired by the rear garden of Buckingham Palace, while the east islet is left wild; together they hold 64 native species and more than 1,000 rare subtropical plants from around the world. Highlights include the Venus Garden with 12 Venus statues, the Stairway to Heaven, a lookout beside a 300-year-old village tree, and a lighthouse you can walk through like a maze. The island also appears in the final episode of the drama Winter Sonata.

Tips

  • The island is reached by boat. A tour from Busan saves you from arranging ferries and transfers on your own; the Klook tour pairs it with a Haegeumgang cruise.
