Haegeumgang거제 해금강

At a glance

Haegeumgang is a small rocky island about 500 m off Galgot village at the southern end of Geoje, formed by two islets that touch. Its name means 'the Geumgangsan of the sea', comparing it to the famous Diamond Mountains in the North, and it has been a national scenic site since 1971, inside Hallyeohaesang National Park. The draw is its sea-carved scenery, above all the cross-shaped Sipja Cave, along with rocks named for a lion, a Buddha and a candle. You see it from the sightseeing boats that leave from harbors around Geoje, including Haegeumgang, Dojangpo, Hakdong, Gujora and Wahyeon.
