Dolmens are Bronze Age tombs, generally built for people with wealth or political power. The centerpiece on Ganghwa is the Bugeun-ri dolmen, a northern-style (table-shaped) tomb built of huge stones about 7.1 m long, 5.5 m wide and 2.6 m high. Ganghwa's dolmens joined the UNESCO World Heritage List on November 29, 2000, together with those at Gochang and Hwasun.
