What it is

TOPIK (한국어능력시험) measures Korean ability. The official site is topik.go.kr. Its main page showed no details when I opened it, so the structure below comes from a general reference (Wikipedia); check the official site.

How it is built

TOPIK has two levels. TOPIK I has levels 1 and 2 and tests reading and listening. TOPIK II covers levels 3 to 6 and adds writing. The current format began with the 35th test in July 2014. Results are generally described as valid for two years after they are announced.

Good for

Learners who need proof of Korean level for study or work in Korea, or who want a clear goal to study toward. Registration rules and dates are on the official site.
