Hospital Playlist 2 OST (2LP)
What it's about
Five doctors in their forties, friends since they entered medical school together in 1999, now work at Yulje Medical Center in different departments, from general surgery to neurosurgery. Between patients, they eat together, tease each other and practice as a band.
It was written by Lee Woo-jung and directed by Shin Won-ho, the team behind Reply 1988.
Why people love it
Both seasons ended at 14.1% nationwide (Nielsen Korea), and season 2's premiere scored 10.0%, the highest premiere in tvN history at the time.
The music is a big draw: Jo Jung-suk's cover of 'Aloha', a 2001 song by the trio Cool, reached No. 1 on Melon, Korea's biggest music platform, 20 days after its release.
Where to watch & good to know
It's on Netflix in many countries; check your region. There are two seasons of 12 episodes each (2020 and 2021), and each episode runs long, so one a night works well.
Listen for the band: the friends play a different Korean song in many episodes, and the cast sang the soundtrack covers themselves.
