What it is
Ceramides are waxy lipids that, in the words of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), "help hydrate skin." Korean "barrier creams" put them front and center. The best known is the Atobarrier365 Cream from AESTURA, Amorepacific's derma brand, launched in 2018; the brand says it uses a patented high-density ceramide capsule and reported 9 million units sold as of December 2025.
Why it's trending
Hwahae Global, which tracks what overseas visitors look up, says Atobarrier365 was its #1 product on 32 of 42 days (from Sep 1), and barrier moisturizers fill the top of its cream chart; a PDRN cream took over #1 from Oct 6. In Korea, Amorepacific says the cream won the cream category of the Olive Young Awards in both 2024 and 2025.
How to use it & what to look for
A ceramide cream is your moisturizer step, after toner and serum. The AAD advises putting moisturizer on right after a shower, while skin is still damp.
When choosing, the AAD suggests scanning the ingredient list for ceramides, ideally alongside humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid. AAD dermatologists also suggest fragrance-free products for dry skin, and recommend testing anything new on a small patch of skin for 7–10 days first.
