A shuttle bus between Gungchon and Yonghwa (20–30 minutes) runs to match the departures. Information line: 033-576-0656 to 0658.
Hours
Departures at 09:00, 10:30, 13:00, 14:30 and 16:00, in both directions (Gungchon to Yonghwa and Yonghwa to Gungchon). The ride takes about 1 hour. The ticket office is open 09:00–18:00 but doesn't sell tickets during lunch, 11:00–12:00.
Closed
The 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month (may change). The website also lists extra closures for late 2026: Oct 23 and 28, Nov 3, 11 and 25; on Nov 13 the 3rd to 5th departures don't run.
Admission
2-seat bike KRW 25,000 (groups KRW 23,000); 4-seat bike KRW 35,000 (groups KRW 32,000). Group rates need at least 10 two-seaters or 8 four-seaters at once and don't apply on weekends or public holidays.
Booking
Klook sells a canola-season day tour from Seoul that includes the ocean rail bike. Direct reservations with the operator are online only, with no phone bookings.
The highlight of this ride is a tunnel where luminarie lights and laser shows, along with displays of sea life, make it feel like an undersea passage. The bikes run on a 5.4 km double track along the East Sea coast between Gungchon and Yonghwa stations, past black pines and rugged rocks, with a rest area and observation deck on the way. The bikes are built for comfort and safety, so children can ride along. Nearby sights include Haesindang Park, Hwang Young-cho Memorial Park, Jangho fishing village and the tomb of King Gongyang.
