Museum Kimchikan fills floors 4–6 of the Insadong Maru building and is all about kimchi: the dish itself, the kimjang tradition of making it together in large batches, and Korean food more broadly, with kimchi-making classes by reservation. Its name borrows the old suffix '-gan' used for rooms such as the royal kitchen (suragan) and the storehouse (gotgan): a room where kimchi's stories are kept. Food company Pulmuone runs the museum as a public-interest project; it started out in Pil-dong, Jung-gu, as the Kimchi Museum, and KTO calls it Korea's first kimchi museum.
