What it is
‘LOVE ATTACK’ is one of two title tracks, with ‘Pinball’, on ‘SCENEDROME’, the first mini album from RESCENE, a five-member girl group from The Muse Entertainment. It came out on August 27, 2024. The album’s concept was built around the sea and the scent of ambergris, with the members as modern-day little mermaids.
Why it’s trending
Earlier this year, Japanese member Minami shouted “Geoje yaho!” in a gyaru (Japanese ‘gal’) look on member Woni’s YouTube channel, and it became a meme; a video of the two visiting Woni’s hometown, Geoje, had 4.79 million views by late May. Fans then found the old song, and it reached No. 1 on Melon’s TOP100 on July 8. On July 26 it won SBS Inkigayo, the group’s first win on a major TV network, and it topped Circle Chart’s monthly digital and streaming charts in August and September.
Where to listen & watch
The official music video is on RESCENE’s YouTube channel, and the song is on Melon and global streaming services. Many fans found the song through the members’ own YouTube videos, so those are worth a look too.
What to notice: the choreography is by Rosalin, who also choreographed aespa’s ‘Next Level’. When the song hit No. 1 on Melon, all the members cried on a live broadcast — a big moment for a group from a small agency. Their newer single ‘Pretty Girl’ was topping music shows at the same time.
