What it's about
Vincenzo Cassano was adopted into an Italian mafia family as a boy and became its consigliere. When his adoptive brother tries to kill him, he flees to Seoul to recover a stash of gold hidden under Geumga Plaza, a run-down arcade. But Babel Group wants to tear the building down, and he finds himself on the side of its tenants and lawyer Hong Cha-young.
It was written by Park Jae-bum and directed by Kim Hee-won.
Why people love it
The finale averaged 14.6% nationwide with a 16.2% peak (Nielsen Korea), the show's best and No. 1 in its time slot. At the time it was the sixth-highest rating in tvN history.
It mixes over-the-top slapstick with revenge on villains who really deserve it, and the Geumga Plaza tenants are a big part of the fun.
Where to watch & good to know
It's on Netflix in many countries; check your region. With 20 episodes it's longer than most K-dramas.
In Seoul, Sewoon Cheonggye Shopping Mall played Geumga Plaza, and Seoullo 7017 is where Vincenzo walks past the night skyline in episode 3. Food tip: the leads order tteokbokki, and the Korea Tourism Organization pairs the scene with Ganggane Tteokbokki near Gwangjang Market.
